Kathleen Thompson Hiatt

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Kathleen (Katie) Hiatt, our beloved
mother, grandmother, and friend to all whose lives she touched. She passed surrounded by
loved ones on Saturday, October 8, 2022. She lived to be 81 years old. Katie was born Kathleen
Thompson, on July 17 ,1941, in Middleton, England, and lived there until she met the love of her
life, Carl E. Hiatt. The two were wed on August 29,1959, and moved to the States shortly after.

Katie was best known for her warm smile; she was a beautiful person inside and out. She
passionately loved her family and friends. Katie loved history and especially the Royal Family
and her hometown. She loved giving back to the community through volunteering and was
even known to get “lost in the woods” for daughter’s search and rescue dogs. She was an active
member of “Good Yarners” at West Cancer Center where she created beautiful prayer shawls.
Katie is survived by three children: Debbie, Lisa, and Andrew. She is also survived by 4
grandchildren: Cassie, Jesse, Carl, and Katie; and 3 step-grandchildren: Lee, Kerri, and Dani.
Katie was predeceased by her loving husband Carl, in 2009, and son Stephen, in 2015.

A small
service will be held on October 15, 2022 at Holly Springs Funeral Home at 12:30 pm. In lieu, of
flowers, her family ask that donations be made in her honor to either Marshall County Humane
