Lawrence (Larry) Odell Gill was born on January 16, 1933 to the late Mr. George Gill of Waterford, and Mrs. Florence Stone Gill of Potts Camp. He passed away on September 22, 2025, and his funeral service was conducted in Chattanooga, Tennessee on September 27, 2025, by Dignity Funeral Home.
He married Betty Dale Buford and they were blessed with the birth of two children (Beth and David). Larry's mother died when he was a young boy and. Larry moved to Memphis and lived with his older sister, Warrine (Archie). He attended city school,s where he graduated from high school and then enetered the US Naval Academy and served a number of years as a commissioned officer in the Navy.
Larry led a successful business life with the TVA organization. He taught math in a local college. He was a focused man who organized everything and everybody. He kept detailed records and neatly filed all documents.
Larry was a mamber of the Ridgedale Baptist Church in Chattanooga, where he attended Sunday School with his wife Martha.
Larry leaves his wife Martha, daughter Beth (Barry), and son David Gill. Larry was a sweet, gentle man who loved his grandchildren (Boone and Bram). He was preceded in death by his parents George and Florence Gill, and his siblings: Gus (Charlene), Warrine (Archie), Golie (Jay), Maxine (A.B), and Janie (John).
A graveside service will be held at the Hillcrest cemetery on Saturday, October 11th at 11:00AM. The Holly Springs Funeral Home has charge. |
