Joe S. Davis

Joe S. Davis, 92, passed away on September 29, 2025. Born on January 4, 1933 in Ashland,  to George and Enon Hudspeth Davis, Joe attended Ashland High School, after which he volunteered for the U. S. Air Force and  served our country in the United Sttes, as well as in London, England. After returning from the Air Force he lived in Ashland for a short period before moving to Houston, Texas where He was employed for several years by Armco Steel Company. Joe became interested in real estate and business brokerage, and spent approximately forty years in the business. He was manager of an office in Houston and later owned the Joe Davis Realty Company in Clear Lake, Texas. In the 1960's when Clear Lake was thriving with the building of the Space Center, it became choice property in both commercial and residential realestate. Joe was at the forefront of the progress and during this time he was active in the Chamber of Commerce, Lion's Club, and other various civic organizations as well as the Clear Lake Baptist Church, of which he was a member. 

In 2004 Joe and Joanne were happily married and spent two years in Webster, Texas until Joe was ready to retire.  They returned to Ashland to make their home on the farm where Joanne had previously lived. Joe became a member of Liberty Methodist Church, where he was an active member until his death. 

He is survived by his devoted wife of 21 years, Joanne, two brothers Pat (Barbara) of Suwanne, Georgia and Neil (Beth) of Iuka, Mississippi, a son Craig Davis (Jennifer) two daughters Jena Westfall (Wes) and Tanya Trahan (John). He also leaves four granddaughters and three grandsons, all of the Houston area. Joe is survived and loved by a stepson and stepdaughter and their families, Bill Autry (Brenda) of Guy, Arkansas, Robin Johnson (Matt) Luke, Eli, and Lily Jo of Damascus, Arkansas; Cindy Hearn (Mike) of Ashland, and Anna Hearn Thompson (Scott), Sadie Kate, Selah, and Silo of Ashland. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 2, 2025, at noon with visitation beginning at  11:00 am, and lasting until service time, at the Holly Springs Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital or Benton County Historical Society.
