Walter Douglas Gurley Sr, 88, of Courtland, Mississippi, passed away Saturday evening, January 13, 2024, at the Water Valley Nursing Home. He was born in Potts Camp on June 25, 1935, to Dorothy Mae Shaw Gurley and Curtis Gurley Sr. Mr Gurley was a Baptist minister and a business owner.
Mr Gurley is survived by two sons, Doug Gurley (Donna), and Tom Gurley (Charan), and two daughters, Rhonda Herron (Rick), and Celine Bell (Donnell). He also leaves five sisters, Louise Salter (Ralph), Suzie Gilliland, June Watson, Pat Cole, and Betty Tuttle, two brothers, Phil Gurley and Jr Gurley (Wanda), ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren. Mr Gurley was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Curtis Gurley Jr and Marion Gurley.
Memorial services for Mr Gurley will be held in the Chapel of the Holly Springs Funeral Home on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 1:00 pm. A visitation for family and friends will begin at noon and continue until service time. |
