John "Beezer" Boyuka Jr passed quietly away, with his family at his side, on Monday, April 19, 2021, at Methodist Germantown Hospital. He was born to John Boyuka and Kathryn Teas Boyuka on October 19, 1945, in Memphis, Tennessee. A graduate of Memphis Southside High School, John voluntarily enlisted into the United States Marine Corp at Parris Island, South Carolina, and then was stationed at Camp Pendleton, where he was a member of the 1st Division Marine Corps. It was through the Corp that he met his lifelong best friend, Dane Brown, and they both served proudly in Vietnam.
After his tour of duty, he married Lynda Lea Smith Boyuka, and continued his lifelong passion for music, playing bass and working as a music promoter. John was really a "Renaissance Man", owning multiple businesses, from electrical contracting to finally, Beezer's Restaurant. He retired in Holly Springs, Mississippi in 2012.
A loyal friend, a passionate soul, and a giving heart, John played Santa for many years, taking donations to help with Toys for Tots, the Clydesdale Christmas Store, and the Marshall County Homeless Shelter and the Marshall County Animal Shelter. He was an avid member of the Holly Springs Collins/Hurdle VFW Post #5697, and was active in everything related to veteran projects. He enjoyed retirement in Holly Springs. His love of music, a passion for life, his contagious laugh, and wicked humor will be sorely missed!
John was preceded in death by his wife Lynda,and his parents, John and Kathryn; his brothers Michael "Mickey" Boyuka and Frank Hudson Jr, and a sister, Becky Millea. He leaves behind his daughters, Cynthya Boyuka, Shelia Platt, and Beverly Gutrie; his dedicated partner, Barbara Joyce Hodge; a brother, William Boyuka-Hudson; a sister, Elaine Boyuka Beard; nine grandchildren and a great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services and burial will be held at the Memphis National Cemetery, 3568 Townes Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee, on Friday, April 30, 2021, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be considered to the State Veteran's Administration Home, 120 Veterans Drive, Oxford, Mississippi, 38655.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Methodist Germantown Hospital for the wonderful care and gracious caring spirit shown to them during John's stay there.
